Role Overview

We're seeking a highly proactive and self-driven Full-Stack Engineer to lead and scale our API initiatives and enhance our mobile app capabilities using React Native. This role requires expertise in both iOS and Android development, a passion for mapping and geo-technologies, and the ability to work independently in a remote setting. An understanding of the latest AI technologies and experience building software that interfaces with hardware (such as IoT devices for asset and vehicle tracking) would be a strong plus. You will work closely with our CTO in Seattle and CEO in London but will be expected to take ownership of projects, identify and solve problems autonomously, and contribute innovative ideas to the product roadmap to drive our platform forward.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mobile App Development: Lead the development and optimization of our mobile app using React Native, ensuring a seamless experience across iOS and Android platforms.
  • API and Mobile Development: Independently design, build, and scale robust, secure, and high-performance APIs that power our platform, and lead the development and optimization of our mobile app using React Native for iOS and Android.
  • Hardware Integration: Develop software solutions that interface with hardware components, such as IoT devices, for future asset and vehicle tracking capabilities.
  • AI and Machine Learning: Stay up to date with the latest advancements in AI and machine learning, exploring ways to integrate these technologies into our product to enhance user experience and functionality.
  • Problem Solving and Innovation: Proactively identify challenges and opportunities within the product, propose solutions, and take ownership of implementing them.
  • Cross-Platform Expertise: Leverage your knowledge of iOS and Android to build high-quality, responsive, and reliable mobile applications.
  • Mapping and Geo-Technology Integration: Develop and integrate advanced mapping and geolocation features to enhance the core functionality of our platform.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Communicate effectively in a remote work environment, ensuring alignment with the distributed team across time zones while driving projects forward.
  • Roadmap Contribution: Collaborate with the CTO, CEO, and other stakeholders to define and prioritize the product roadmap, actively contributing ideas for new features, optimizations, and innovations.
  • Quality and Design Focus: Maintain a strong eye for detail in both code quality and user interface/experience design, continuously seeking to improve and refine the product.

Qualities We're Looking For

  • Proactive and Self-Driven: A highly motivated self-starter who thrives in a remote environment, takes initiative, and confidently drives projects forward without needing close supervision.
  • Strong Problem Solver: Demonstrates a proactive approach to identifying and solving complex technical challenges, with a knack for turning problems into opportunities for improvement.
  • AI and Hardware Knowledge: Understanding of the latest AI technologies and experience with software that interfaces with hardware (e.g., IoT devices) is a strong plus.
  • Innovative Thinker: Eager to bring new ideas to the table, suggest improvements, and influence the future direction of the platform through creative problem-solving and a forward-thinking mindset.
  • Independent Decision Maker: Capable of making sound decisions autonomously, balancing technical requirements with business needs to achieve optimal outcomes.

Skills We're Looking For

  • Expertise in iOS and Android Development: Strong understanding of native mobile app development (Swift, Objective-C, Kotlin, Java) and experience in bridging native functionality with React Native.
  • API and Backend Knowledge: Proficiency in building and scaling RESTful APIs and working with backend technologies (Node.js, Python, or similar).
  • Interest in Mapping and Geo-Technology: Familiarity with mapping frameworks (e.g., Mapbox, Google Maps API) and a genuine interest in developing geo-based solutions.
  • Design Sensibility: A strong eye for detail and design, with an appreciation for user experience and aesthetics.
  • Remote/Hybrid Flexibility: Ability to work effectively in a remote or hybrid environment, collaborating with a distributed team across multiple time zones.
  • Problem Solver: Strong analytical skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and solving technical challenges.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive Salary: $130,000+ per year, depending on experience, location, and skill set.
  • Equity Options: 0.1% to 1% equity, offering a stake in the company’s growth and long-term success.
  • Performance Bonuses: Annual performance bonus based on achieving key milestones.
  • Flexible Work Environment: Remote and hybrid work options, with potential travel to Seattle, London, or Austin for team meetings.
  • Benefits: Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off (PTO), and a professional development budget.
  • Collaborative Culture: Work in a supportive, dynamic, and innovative environment where your contributions directly impact the company’s success.
