Is Pin Drop free to use?

Yes, it is. Pin Drop is free. It has been since day one and that is not changing. You can save pins, add photos and descriptions, organise everything with tags and access your places from your phone or the web without spending anything.

If you have just updated the app and landed on a screen asking you to subscribe, that screen is showing you what our paid plan offers. You do not need to tap "subscribe" to keep using Pin Drop. There will be an option to continue on the free plan and carry on as normal. Nothing has been taken away from you.

What the free plan includes

The free plan covers everything most people need day to day. You can save pins, attach photos and notes to each one, sort them into lists and filter through them when you need to find something. It works across iPhone, Android and the web, and your pins sync between devices automatically.

We built Pin Drop to be something people could use without a subscription getting in the way. The free tier is not a stripped-back version with key features held back. It is the real thing. If you have been using Pin Drop for years and recently updated, your account and all your saved pins are exactly as you left them.

What the paid plan adds

For people who use Pin Drop heavily or for work, the paid plan goes further. It includes things like offline maps, advanced collaboration tools for teams and priority support. It is genuinely useful if you are managing a large amount of data or working with colleagues on shared pins. But it is completely optional.

None of the features you have been using on the free plan have moved behind a paywall. If you are curious about what each plan includes, you can see the full breakdown at pindrop.it/pricing.

Why the upgrade screen appears after an update

When you update to a new version of Pin Drop, the app walks you through what is new, including a look at the features available on the paid plan. This has caught some people off guard, particularly if they were not expecting it. The screen can read like something has changed when it has not.

If you saw that screen and thought the app had gone paid, it had not. Tap past it and you will find your pins right where you left them. We know this has caused confusion for some users coming off the back of the v6 update and we are working on making it clearer going forward.

If something still does not look right with your account, drop us a line at hello@pindropapp.com and we will take a look.
