Pin Drop vs ServiceTitan

ServiceTitan runs the back office for thousands of HVAC, plumbing and electrical companies: dispatch, invoicing, CRM and marketing in one system. Pin Drop does something narrower, holding every site's visit history, photos and pipeline stage on a map, with territories you draw by hand.

Territories drawn by hand.

Map out coverage on the map itself, name an owner and see overlap instantly, with no separate territory module needed.

Automatic check-in and check-out.

Notes and photos land against the pin the moment a visit starts and ends, without a technician filling in a form.

Location-based pipelines.

Sites move through stages with timing tracked at each one, so you can see exactly where a job or a deal is stuck.

Open data, no lock-in.

Everything exports as CSV, GeoJSON, KML or SHP through an open API, and you can start with a spreadsheet import on day one.

What each platform is actually built to do.

ServiceTitan is a genuinely deep platform. Founded in 2012 and now public on Nasdaq under the ticker TTAN, it has grown into what it calls the operating system for the trades, used by more than 100,000 HVAC, plumbing, electrical and other home service businesses across the US, Canada and beyond.

Its strength is breadth. Call booking, scheduling and dispatch, GPS-tracked route optimisation, a technician mobile app, pricebook management, estimates, invoicing, payments, memberships and a Marketing Pro suite for call tracking and ad attribution all live in one connected system. For a growing or enterprise trades business that needs to run its entire operation from one place, that breadth is the whole point.

That completeness comes at a cost, in both senses. ServiceTitan does not publish pricing and points prospective customers to a sales demo, but independent estimates put licence costs somewhere between $245 and $500 or more per technician per month across its Starter, Essentials and Works tiers, plus implementation fees that can run from around $5,000 for a small team to $50,000 or more for an enterprise rollout.

It is also built around the job and the customer record first, with location treated as an input to scheduling and routing rather than the organising layer itself. Coverage areas, named ownership of a patch of ground and a visual sense of overlap between reps or crews are not really what the platform is for.

That is where a map-first tool earns its place. Every site gets a pin holding its own visit history, notes, photos and pipeline stage, with territories drawn by hand and handed to a named owner, so overlap and coverage gaps are visible at a glance rather than buried in a report.

Pin Drop is not trying to replace dispatch scheduling, invoicing or a pricebook. It runs on web, iOS and Android, works offline on every plan, and is live from day one with an import from a spreadsheet or a CSV export, so a team can start with one workflow rather than a multi-week rollout.

For a business already committed to ServiceTitan, the map sits alongside it as the territory and site-history layer it does not have natively. For a smaller or field-heavy team not ready for an enterprise platform and its setup fees, it is a lighter place to start, with data held in open formats behind an API rather than locked into one system.

How it works

From job list to one live map of the work.

01

Import what you already have

Bring jobs, sites and assets across from a spreadsheet, CSV or export. However many, they map instantly.

02

Shape it around your work

Tag, group and add the custom fields your operation runs on, by job type, site or engineer.

03

Put it in the engineers' hands

Everyone works from the same live map on the phone they carry. A visit logged on site shows up in the office without an update being sent.

Why field teams switch

Less chasing, less overlap, less admin.

One shared truth

Every job, site and visit on one map, so office and field are never out of sync.

Clear ownership

Know who covers what and where, without a spreadsheet to keep current.

No duplicated visits

Everyone sees what has already been done, so two people don't attend the same site.

Less admin

No double entry and no status meeting to find out where things stand.

FAQS

Questions you might have

How is Pin Drop different from ServiceTitan?

ServiceTitan is an all-in-one platform for home and commercial service businesses, covering dispatch, CRM, invoicing and reporting. Pin Drop is the map layer beside it, capturing each site with access notes, photos and visit history so your team can find and remember every location.

Can I use Pin Drop alongside ServiceTitan?

Yes. ServiceTitan runs the back office and the job, Pin Drop remembers the place. Teams use both so operations stay in ServiceTitan while the field keeps a shared map of every site.

Can I import my job sites into Pin Drop?

Yes. Bring your locations in, organise them into shared maps and add notes, photos and visits against each pin, on mobile and desktop.

Is Pin Drop a good companion for ServiceTitan users?

Yes. If your crews need a fast shared map of sites and access details that a service platform does not hold, Pin Drop fills that gap.

How much does Pin Drop cost?

Pin Drop has a free plan and paid plans billed per seat. See the pricing page for current plans. ServiceTitan pricing is quoted separately and changes over time, so check their site.
